Covid-19 Writing

  1. WALT explain what the rules are at Level 2 and what we think about it.

Covid-19 is a disease that older people can get. On Wednesday we went into level 2.

There are 5 confirmed cases in Auckland.

So now we have to go back to social distancing, you have to stay 1mtr apart. You are not allowed to hug, that is so sad because I love to hug.  You can not have a gathering of more than 100 people and  no shared kai. You can not travel over the sea.

What do you think about it?
I was really scared because I did not know what was going on.

Feral cats

4. Why might a cat become stray?
People just dump them.
5. What uses do cats have?
They can catch mice.

Activity 2
Complete the cloze activity using the words in the box.

HINT - Highlight the word once you’ve used it.
collar   feral   microchip  popular
protect neutered    birds  endangered

Cats are one of New Zealand’s most popular pets.  They provide company and comfort to many people, but they can also be killers.
They catch small animals, and birds, and don’t care if the bird is a common sparrow or an endangered  black robin. There are three kinds of cats; companion cats, stray cats and feral cats. People have thought of many other ways to help protect our native birds and animals from cats.   One idea is to put a microchip  which contains all the owner’s details in all cats.  This means that if someone finds a lost cat it can be returned home and will not become part of the stray cat population.  Other ideas are keeping cats indoors when possible; having cats neutered  to stop them having too many kittens; putting a collar and bell on every cat and making sure all cats are well-fed and cared for.
✅✅✅ Excellent Carrie!

Activity 3
Has this article changed the way you think about cats?

Write 2-3 sentences to explain what you’re thinking.

I still think they are cute. But now I know that they can kill our native
birds and animals.
If you have a cat keep it inside as much as possible and keep it well fed.
✅✅✅ Great thinking Carrie!

Free Writing Friday

Each Friday my class gets to write about anything we like.  It is called Free Writing Friday.  I wrote about 'My Dream Pet'.

24.4.2020 My Dream Pet

My fluffy good friend is a cute rabbit I call Princess Me-Me. She has a round fluffy body, silky soft feet, huge ears and an adorable face. She doesn't sleep in a fancy castle, she sleeps in my bed. She cuddles into my arms at night.

Do you know what she likes to eat? Crispy lettuce and crunchy candy carrots.

Princess Me-Me is sooooooo CUTE.

Essential Worker Thank you

Dear Amazing PaknSave Staff

Thank-you for staying open during the Covid-19 lockdown.
You made sure we still have groceries to buy. You also made
sure my mum was safe when she went shopping.

While I have been in lockdown I have been very busy
baking Chocolate Brownie with mum. They are delicious.
This is my home economics lesson. My brother Keifer and I
also made two forts with heaps of blankets and a box robot
from old boxes we found. The best thing I did was play
with my dolls.

Thank you again for making sure we have groceries to  buy.
Stay safe, you are amazing .

Funtastic Swimming

Me and the class go to the school pool on Mondays ,Tuesdays and Thursdays. We learn to float on our  backs and sometimes our tummy. I really love going swimming. I like whirlpools.  Do you know why I like whirlpools? Because I can float. I am a little bit scared but I am not afraid. I feel really relaxed when I am in the pool. Yvette helps me to float on my back. My goal is to put my face  under the water.  Swimming is awesome. When I get in the pool I feel like I am in an iceberg. I think  that I really love Swimming because it is relaxing and it is really fun.
